Prince William and Catherine, the Princess of Wales, recently took a break from their summer vacation to send a heartfelt message of support to Team GB ahead of the 2024 Paralympic Games. The royal couple shared their well-wishes for the athletes as they prepare to compete in Paris.
In a message posted on social media, the Prince and Princess of Wales expressed their excitement for the upcoming weeks of remarkable sport. They wrote, “Best of luck to all competitors at #Paris2024 and to our participants at the Paralympics.” The signature at the end of the message confirms that it came directly from them.
Earlier this month, the royal couple celebrated the end of the 2024 Olympic Games by congratulating Team GB, calling them an inspiration. Their video greeting was accompanied by appearances from other notable figures, including Dame Kelly Holmes, Snoop Dogg, David Beckham, Jessica Ennis-Hill, and Sir Chris Hoy.
Additionally, Prince Edward, Patron of the British Paralympic Association, extended his best wishes to all athletes, officials, and staff members of the Paralympics GB team traveling to Paris. He is scheduled to attend the Paralympics, which will feature a focal point at the opening ceremony, beginning today at 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 8. The closing ceremony will be hosted by the State of France.
Team GB will be represented by 25 competitors, comprising 116 men and 99 women, across 19 different sports in Paris. After a strong performance in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, where they placed second with 41 gold medals and a total of 124 medals, Team GB is aiming to build on that success. China leads the field with 96 gold medals, followed by the U.S. in third place with 37.
