Meghan Markle is reportedly worried about the long-term impacts of her childrens’ separation from their father’s UK-based family and misses “some aspects” of her brief UK life.
According to a new report, the Duchess of Sussex opened up to one of her few remaining friends in Britain about her concern that Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, would grow to resent her in the future if they’re “deprived” of seeing their grandfather, King Charles, and their cousins.
“A friend of the couple – one of Meghan’s few aristocratic friends from her time in the UK – told me Meghan does miss some aspects of life in the UK and worries that her children will blame her if they never get to see their cousins and feel as adults that they have been deprived of what might have been a fun and meaningful existence in the UK as working royals,” royal author Tom Quinn told The Mirror.

Harry and Meghan‘s relationship with the royals has been strained since they quit official duties and moved to the US in 2020, and later released a series of public criticisms about members of his family.
Following Charles’s public statement announcing his cancer battle in February, the duke jumped straight on a plane to the UK to visit him.
In his first interview after their meeting, Harry hinted at his hopes of a reconciliation with his family.
“So my family and my life in California is as it is. I have got other trips planned,” he told Good Morning America.
“That would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so you know, I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”
While Harry is reportedly planning to return to the UK again next month for a special service in honour of the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary, there is no indication yet of whether Meghan, or their kids, will join him.
It’s understood that the Duke of Sussex could potentially meet up with his estranged brother, Prince William, during the visit in the wake of Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis.
According to Quinn, both sides know it could be “very awkward”, but are considering ways to minimise any challenges.
“William and Kate are really nervous that whether Harry comes alone or with Meghan there are going to be difficulties and a great deal of planning is going on to try to reduce all the inevitable awkwardness and embarrassment,” he told The Mirror.
“One plan being looked at is to let the brothers appear in public for a short period to try to show they can at least be civil to each other.
“It’s a question of the lesser of two evils. If Harry comes to the UK in May and avoids his brother and Kate, there will be more damaging speculation than if they try to patch things up just enough to cope with a short meeting.”
