The youngest son of the king is looking to replace Frogmore Cottage, his previous abode, which he relinquished after spending four years in the US following his decision to step back from his royal duties.
Tom Quinn, an author and specialist in royal affairs, commented on the Duke’s sentiments, noting that as time passes, Prince Harry may view his time in the United States with nostalgia. Despite this, Quinn highlighted the Duke’s longing for elements of his old life in the UK, including his military connections and friendships, which have reportedly become strained due to tensions surrounding his wife, the Duchess.
Nevertheless, Quinn emphasized the Duke’s determination to establish a permanent home in the UK. This resolve is partly reflected in his ongoing legal efforts to secure funding from the British taxpayer for his security measures, a contentious issue following his and the Duchess’s departure from official royal duties.
Previously, Queen Elizabeth II had provided the Duke and Duchess of Sussex with a five-bedroom home in Home Park, Windsor, England, spanning 5,089 square feet. However, they were required to relinquish this mansion upon stepping back from their royal roles. The Duke had once expressed hopes that Frogmore Cottage would be his forever home, yet it ultimately served as a temporary residence. Despite controversies surrounding the funding of renovations initially covered by taxpayers, the couple eventually reimbursed these costs from their personal funds.
